Here are your answers compared to this voter’s answers.
Social › Abortion
8>8 Personal answerPro-choice, and providing birth control, sex education, and more social services will help reduce the number of abortions also coupled with Pro-choice, but ban after the first three months. (Or whatever time is deemed "okay" by medical professionals) Sorry I know "okay" is so not the right word. |
Social › LGBT Adoption Rights
8>8 Personal answerYes, as long as they pass the same background checks as straight couples |
Social › Gay Marriage
8>8 Personal answerYes, but allow churches the right to refuse same-sex ceremonies |
Healthcare › Mental Health
8>8 Personal answerYes, but only increase funding for personalised care instead of subsidising pharmaceutical companies |
the Environment › Environmental Regulation
8>8 Personal answerNo, and I believe global warming is a natural occurrence for the most part. However there is no reason why we shouldn't also provide more incentives for cleaner energy production as well. |
Science › Mandatory Vaccinations
8>8 Personal answerNo, fund public ad campaigns about the risks and benefits instead providing people with ACCURATE information and not trying to scare people. |
the Economy › Taxes
8>8 Personal answerNo. I do not understand why tax is not a flat percentage for everyone. If we all paid X% of our weekly gross income as tax and all receive the benefits of said tax e.g. healthcare, education etc that seems the fairest system. You may choose private health or education for instance but that is your choice and you are not denied access to the public system. A richer person will pay more tax than a poorer person as a dollar amount but not as a percent. $200 taxed out of my $1000 income each week hurts me the same as the person taxed $2000 a week for their $10000 income. |
Healthcare › Universal Dental Care
8>8 Personal answerYes, but only for children and senior citizens |
the Environment › Foreign Land Ownership
8>8 Personal answerNo, only allow leases |
the Environment › Plastic Product Ban
8>8 Personal answerInvestigate the possibilities of further recycling disposable products and make it easier for people to do so. (Example I cant put my plastic bags and soft plastics in the recycling bin at home but I can other plastics.) Give me more bins if necessary and a council that wont charge me a fortune to have them collected and I will happily take the time to put things in the correct bins. |
Domestic Policy › Woman Quotas
8>8 Personal answerNo |
Immigration › Deporting Criminal Immigrants
8>8 Personal answerYes |
Foreign Policy › United Nations
8>8 Personal answerI do not understand the relevance of the UN in our current world. The League of Nations was unsuccessful and it seems to me that the United Nations idea has been the same. Perhaps some kind of reform, maybe third times a charm. (Optimism not sarcasm there) |
Domestic Policy › Drug Policy
8>8 Personal answerNo, but decriminalise drugs that offer medicinal benefits such as marijuana |
the Economy › Welfare Drug Testing
8>8 Personal answerIt seems like a much broader problem. We need to look at why welfare recipients are buying drugs and try to sort that out. Aiming to get as many people off government welfare should be the main objective. I do believe people should be more accountable for welfare they receive however stripping them of it for testing positive to drugs seems like it would cause more problems than it would fix. |
Science › Nuclear Energy
8>8 Personal answerYes, as long as there is no public subsidy. We should also investigate the long term potential of cleaner alternatives such as wind, hydroelectric, thorium, and geothermal. |
Immigration › Boat Immigrants
8>8 Personal answerYes, they should be treated the same as those arriving by air |
Education › University Funding
8>8 Personal answerNo, and univerisity education should be free for all citizens providing that you complete the degree and practice within Australia for at least X number of years. |
Elections › Criminal Politicians
8>8 Personal answerYes, as long as they have finished serving their sentence and there is full transparency regarding their conviction. The people will then decide whether or not to elect them. |
Transportation › Public Transportation
8>8 Personal answerWe should aim to have free public transport, buses, trains, trams. We should aim to have clean solutions. We should aim to have better public transport (routes, times etc) Currently though this one does fall into a less important category with the debt we have at the moment. Good to have goals though. |
Crime › Adler A110 Ban
8>8 Personal answerWhy the focus on this particular gun? Are the bullets less harmful to people? Also what context are we talking about here? Is there a reasonable use for this fireman for say farmers or hunters? |
Healthcare › Safe Haven
8>8 Personal answerOnly if the "safe haven" is tied to some form of drug rehabilitation program. |
Immigration › Immigrant Assimilation
8>8 Personal answerYes, but the government should provide free language learning courses |
Crime › Demilitarize the Police
8>8 Personal answerNo, extreme situations should be handled by higher agencies with specialized training and equipment |
Elections › Minimum Voting Age
8>8 Personal answerYes, any citizen that pays taxes should be allowed to vote. I do not believe however that voting should be mandatory. |
the Economy › Government Spending
8>8 Personal answerPerhaps we needed to strike a much greater balance between the economy and public health. I do not know the numbers of direct Covid deaths but I feel that if we looked at that and the amount of debt we have now incurred we might think it was an overreaction. Certainly reducing our military spending if we have to start somewhere. |
Crime › Defunding the Police
8>8 Personal answerPerhaps long term if we were able to get to the root of the reasons for higher crime in certain communities and reduce those rates perhaps with social and community based programs. These can be great but not at the expense of the police force I would think. |
Elections › Right of Foreigners to Vote
8>8 Personal answerYes, anyone who pays taxes should have the right to vote |
Housing › Homeless Encampments
8>8 Personal answerYes, and create more social programs to provide free food, clothing, and medicine. As long as they are abiding by laws I think that is perfectly fine to stay on public property. |
Foreign Policy › Foreign Aid
8>8 Personal answerMake it easily accessible to see what our nation is spending and where it is spending foreign aid. Without that at the very least I could not hope to give a semi intelligent opinion. I have no doubt however that there are good people all over the planet in every country and denying them help because their government is corrupt or violates human rights is no good. However you cant just throw money at a problem and hope it solves it. |
Education › Public School
8>8 Personal answerNo |
Domestic Policy › Monarchy
8>8 Personal answerYes |
Education › Charter Schools
8>8 Personal answerNo, we should focus on improving our public schools and increasing teacher wages instead |
