Foreigners who have chosen Australia as a country in which to make their life, either through choice of refuge, shiuld be able to participate in the political process as soon as possible. To that end, the process of awarding citizenship shoukd be accelerated for those who have chosen to stay.

Socrates was right: the right to vote should be earned through tests, contributions to society etc. this prevents, strong, well funded political parties from manipulating citizens that are not educated or who are easily bought off through media manipulation.
