Private health insurance funds private health and is provided by a number of private health insurance organisations, called health funds. The Coalition under Tony pledged to privatise Medibank if it won the 2010 election but was again defeated by Labor. Privatisation was again a Coalition policy for the 2013 election, which the Coalition won.

It is ironic that the average working Registered Nurse working in a private hospital can not afford private health insurance to receive care that is provided by that nurse. Healthcare services need to be accessible by everyone even if it means increased taxes for that purpose. The healthcare system must be forward moving only.

Less. Public health is all our problem. Privatisation = profit for a select few
@Glenmar4yrs4Y
Absolutely not or we will end up like the USA where people's health will be dependent upon if they have insurance or not. The medicare system as it is has been working so why change it.

There needs to be a balance between the 2, if people choose to go to private hospitals than that’s their choice, the choice shouldn’t be made for them!

more privatisation and more government funding to pay for it - not for consumers to pay the extra costs

Have an honest assessment of the state of the healthcare system and the funds needed to provide the care Australians expect. Then provide these to the Australian people so we can choose
@B3RF2P53wks3W
In theory, there should be less privatisation of healthcare services as the government should aim to have the best facilities possible and spend the money necessary to achieve this goal, however, due to the healthcare system being so overworked and unrewarding it is not surprising that private healthcare remains popular.

Neither, government should increase access to public healthcare. Private healthcare should not be a government concern.
