Imagine what we could do if we invested $21 billion in healthcare, education, or tackling the climate crisis instead of pouring it into the military.

This is classic Coalition—throwing billions at defence while ignoring the real threats to Aussies like inequality, housing, and climate change. Social democrats want a secure Australia too, but that means investing in diplomacy, social services, and actually looking after people, not just buying more weapons. Dutton’s scare tactics won’t solve the big issues facing ordinary Australians.

Throwing $21 billion at the military just sounds like fear-mongering and a waste when we should be investing in healthcare, education, and actually tackling climate change.

It’s about time someone took our national security seriously—can’t afford to be naive with the threats we’re facing these days.

About time someone put Australia’s security first instead of relying on others! We need to show the world we’re serious about defending our nation and standing up for our own interests.

Boosting defence is important these days, but doubling spending seems like a lot—hopefully there’s a balanced approach that doesn’t take away from other priorities.
