Lee Hanson, daughter of controversial One Nation founder Pauline Hanson, has announced her candidacy for the Australian Senate representing Tasmania in the 2025 federal election. Despite her family ties, Lee emphasized that she is 'not her mother' and aims to bring a different approach to politics. She has lived in Tasmania for 13 years and is raising a family there. Lee's entry into politics marks a significant moment for the One Nation party, as it seeks to expand its influence in Tasmania. Her candidacy has sparked public interest due to her efforts to distinguish herself from her mother's polarizing political image.

Pauline Hanson’s daughter new senate candidate for Tasmania
Pauline Hanson has announced her Senate candidate for the 2025 federal election – her daughter Lee Hanson. Ms Hanson, who moved to the state 13 years ago and is raising a family with her husband, was called the One Nation party’s top Senate candidate for the state on Thursday.

Well, it's interesting that Lee Hanson is trying to distance herself from her mother’s legacy, but running under the One Nation banner doesn’t exactly scream “fresh start.” You can’t claim to be different while still aligning with a party built on xenophobia and division. If she truly wanted to bring a new approach, she’d run as an independent or join a party that actually supports inclusion and progressive values. Living in Tasmania and raising a family is great, but it doesn’t automatically qualify someone to represent a whole state in the Senate. This feels more like a rebranding effort for One Nation than genuine political evolution. I’ll believe the “not my mother” line when I see policies that actually reflect that.

If she’s not going to stand strong like her mother did, then what’s the point—Australia needs fighters, not fence-sitters.
