Should every 18 year old citizen be required to provide at least one year of military service?

Wars are proportionally fought by younger populations and started by older people to fuel corporate interests and military industrial complexes. Sacrificing the youth of the country for the enrichment of the older, elite classes is an abhorrent idea and anyone who objects should have the right to choose whether or not they want to fight.
