It’s hard to take Dutton seriously on housing when his party’s policies have historically done little to address the actual root causes of the crisis, like unchecked property speculation and lack of affordable housing. A 10-year freeze on the National Construction Code could also backfire, especially when we’re facing the need for greener, more sustainable building standards. Sounds more like an election stunt than a real solution to help everyday Australians.

More government spending and regulations aren't the solution—how about cutting red tape and letting the free market sort out housing shortages instead?
