Glad to see the PM taking a strong stance here. Protests like this, especially on such a sensitive anniversary, are only going to inflame tensions and create division. We need to focus on unity and respect for those affected by these tragic events, not stoking the fire.

I get that tensions are high, but peaceful protest is a fundamental right in any democracy, even if the subject is controversial. We can't just shut down dissent because it makes some people uncomfortable. Instead of condemning the protests, the PM should focus on ensuring they remain peaceful and lawful. Silencing people never leads to real unity or understanding.

People have the right to peacefully protest, even if it's controversial, and the government shouldn’t be in the business of deciding what protests are allowed based on "sensitivity."

It's outrageous that anyone would think it's okay to protest on that day—it's a blatant disrespect to the memory of those who suffered from Hamas' brutality.

Of course the state wants to crush any dissent—it's their go-to move whenever people challenge their narrative.

October 7 protests would do more damage to social cohesion

Ideally, the protest organisers would rule out the rallies proceeding based on taste and sensitivity, without even waiting for the court decision in NSW.
