There is no reason for a ceasefire to be entertained at this time

Gaza have shown that their only desire is for the destruction of Israel and the killing of the Jews living there. Every time that Israel or anyone else has extended an olive branch to them, they either rejected it outright or took it and then attacked them immediately. They see mercy as weakness - and so they will respond with war. If they desire war so greatly, they shall have war - in all of its brutality. Perhaps, when they are treated like the losers in a war, they will see reality.

I believe it will take the same for Gaza - their people are similarly indoctrinated to a similarly extremist ideology. Furthermore, for peace between Israel and Gaza, there will likely need to be a decades-long occupation - a real occupation, with soldiers on every corner. Not whatever protesters have been calling an 'occupation' for the last 20 years.
