When they attacked Israel on October 7, they did so representing the Gazan people. The response to this attack in Gaza was that of euphoria - dancing in the street and celebrations.
Continually, Gazan authorities have placed their civilians in the line of fire against international law and blamed Israel when they ended up hurt or killed. When Gaza infrastructure is attacked, the number of casualties claimed always far exceeds the actual number - the Gazan ministry of Health claimed 500+ casualties at Al-Shifa hospital caused by an Israeli bomb - it turned out that it was a rocket fired by Hamas, and that approximately a dozen people were killed or injured.
Onto the hostages. Hostage taking is utterly depraved, and it is the obligation of the international community to stamp out hostage taking. Many of these hostages have been raped (we know this from autopsy reports and testimony) and many have been forced into domestic slavery (see Noa). Giving Hamas a ceasefire vindicates their actions on and following October 7 - it shows them that it gets results, and so them and organisations like Hamas will in the future use methods like the ones conducted in the Israel-Gaza war, at great cost to any of the innocents caught up in the war.
