Well, yes, to preserve our individual culture, and so we don't forget who we are, but we can make a few nudges to benefit everyone.

I think it is the duty of the individual to preserve a nations traditional values

 @9HDHN2Hanswered…1yr1Y

Not at all. A government enforcing a particular national identity or traditional values often leads towards fascism.

Left to the individuals for sure. Humans, let alone governments should never force beliefs upon others, especially people who are less influential than the government. It's not right, and being forced into something violates many rights and freedoms.

The government's entire role is to preserve a country's sovereignty. If that includes traditional values, then it needs to be discussed. If it includes progressive values, then that also needs to be discussed. But it must always be discussed with the aim of continued sovereignty of the nation, and without regard for the welfare of other nations beyond our control.

Government should preserve traditional values and encourage citizens for doing so.

 @9PRB8KZanswered…10mos10MO

Both. Government should reflect the needs and interests of the people, and should respect national values. They should work for US, not themselves, or for international or special interests

 @9PP3ML3answered…10mos10MO

It should be left to the individuals because when the individuals combine, that is when you get a country.

 @9PP3M2Nfrom Arizona  answered…10mos10MO

Yes I believe that the government should and they should pass more laws that respect and protect our values and traditions that we made here in Australia because after a long period of time we’ve seen that they work

 @9PDPBQYanswered…10mos10MO

That should be the responsibility of both the government and the individual. But the government should never impose these on the individuals.

 @9KQLJ58answered…1yr1Y

Governments should preserve a nations traditional values as long as none of them are harmful or outdated Preserving such values keep a nation and its people stronger and more independent.

The government should preserve our culture and history, but not that is discriminatory nature. Countries should continue to grow and develop with the future, but also retain some of their past.

Good question. The government works literally and directly for me; so in the absence of a majority demanding a change, its job is to maintain whatever came before it.

 @9K2SLQMOne Nationanswered…1yr1Y

This should be left to individuals as their is something called free speech although the government in their best efforts is attempting to take this from the people

 @9LMDLMFanswered…12mos12MO

It should be left to the individual to decide. If a government attempts to uphold traditional values by force through legislation, then it can realistically only lead to oppression of progressive values

 @9K7ZZHFGreenanswered…1yr1Y

The duty of a government is to protect its citizens, and preserving a nation's traditional values may not always do this. Ultimately, nations must be allowed to progress and change without a need to hold on to archaic values that will not necessary align with everyone's values. The government should not protect a particular set of values, but rather the health and safety of its citizens, and the safety to live life freely and celebrate diversity.

It should be left on the individuals as government have different views, e.g. Indigenous peoples preserving sacred sights.

 @9LMGB96answered…12mos12MO

I think both should work together, rather than the duty be assigned to one or the other.
