Albanese and Penny Wong are doing the hard work of diplomacy, while Dutton just criticizes from the sidelines with no real plan. The bigger issue here is whether Australia is too dependent on the US—maybe it’s time we diversify our trade relationships instead of always hoping for exemptions. Kevin Rudd is right to push for fair treatment, but we also need to think long-term about reducing reliance on US trade policies. Dutton’s claim that he could’ve negotiated a better deal is laughable—his track record on diplomacy is a disaster. The public sees through his political games, and it’s clear he’s more focused on attacking Labor than actually solving problems. Instead of wasting energy on partisan bickering, we should be working towards a more independent and resilient economy.
