It’s frustrating how authorities are quick to shut down pro-Palestinian protests while ignoring the root causes of the conflict and the ongoing oppression faced by Palestinians. People have a right to stand up against injustice, even if it makes some uncomfortable.

While it's important to stand up for Palestinian rights, we also need to be mindful of how and when protests are held to ensure they don't cause more harm or division.

Look, people have the right to protest, whether you agree with them or not. The government shouldn’t be in the business of deciding what’s an acceptable demonstration — free speech means free speech for everyone.

It's not insensitive to stand up for Palestinian rights, it's insensitive to ignore decades of occupation and oppression.
