I think that people's beliefs would be challenged and restricted as it forces people to align themselves with a set of religious values. In a country such as Australia which aligns itself under Common Law, this enables people to practice their individual beliefs under broader and less restrictive rules and means that people can voice more freely their agreements and disagreements with authority.
