There are a significant amount of people in this world with enough wealth to solve world hunger and it wouldn't even make a dent in their networth.
Taxing the rich even slightly more would have huge economic benefits. There would be more money coming into government who will (if they will, big emphasis on the if) be able to spend more on infrastructure, building the economy, healthcare and education to name a few.

The poorer demographics make up significant portion of the consumer market and by having high tax margins on lower classes who already have limited resources decreases spending within the economy thus leading to companies increasing manufacturing and sales costs furthering inflation. Where as if loopholes and exploits were removed for high income tax payers there would still be an equivalent amount of money made on taxes and also allow for more freedom of spending and less financial stress for lower income earners which in turn will lead to less unpaid debts
