A government that can unite the people is more likely to be able to push the national interest over one that fosters division. Individual freedoms are tied with the functioning of a society that embraces civil rights, equality and rule of law. As someone from an economically disenfranchised environment that has faced long challenges with advancing through society, a united state that helps the less fortunate is important and that is only possible through national unity and the empowerment of people's liberties.
